Watching Rahul Dravid bat has been painful

I am watching the India-South Africa 1st Test – 3rd Day live – Virender Sehwag is batting like a dream on a feather bed of a pitch. On the other hand, Rahul Dravid is really struggling to get his timing right. Its really been painful to watch a batsman of his calibre bat in such manner – on one hand you have Sehwag taking the initiative from South Africa. On the other hand, Rahul Dravid is giving it away. He has to get rid of the demons in his mind and bat freely that he used to before.

Yahoo! Messenger Team Cooking Offsite

Last week, we had a Yahoo! Messenger team cooking offsite event. I had never been to a cooking off-site event – so, i was a bit wary of how it was going to turn out.

We were divided into 3 tables and each table was supposed to cook a couple of dishes – it as all rustic Italian fare. My table was responsible for  Gnocchi – a potato based dish. The total cooking time for all the dishes was around 2 hours. We were also given wine to sip on during the spare time. All in all, it was a fun event and in the end, even the food that we cooked turned out delicious. Here are some snaps from the event.

Zappos – fantastic customer service

I recently ordered a pair of ASIC GT 2120 through standard shipping of 4-5 days. I was in no hurry to get the pair because i had a spare New Balance for my daily workout. But i was very pleasantly surprised when the very next day, I got an email telling me that my order was being upgraded to a next day shipping – in fact, it arrived within 24 hours of ordering – it was just amazing. Here is a snippet from the email from Zappos:

Dear Thyaga Vasudevan,

Good news!

Although you originally ordered Standard (4 to 5 business days) shipping and handling, we have given your order special priority processing in our warehouse and are upgrading the shipping and delivery time frame for your order.
Your order will ship out today and be given a special priority shipping status so that you can receive your order even faster than we originally promised!

Please note that this is being done at no additional cost to you. It is simply our way of saying thank you for being our customer.

You tell me – once you get an email like this and are serviced like this, you are bound to go  back to them – right?

Cricket is one of the top searches on Yahoo!

It looks India’s win over Australia in the CB series has helped make the game more popular – at least we have more people curious to know about the game. I took a snapshot of the hottest searches in Yahoo! a couple of days after the win – I was surprised to find the word “cricket” there :).

Way to go India!

Cometh the hour – cometh the champion

Sachin Tendulkar proved once again why he is such a great champion. On probably his last appearance at SCG, he hit a masterful 117* (first ODI 100 in Australian soil and 42nd overall) to steer India to a 1-0 lead in the CB series. The best part of the innings is the way he paced it and the way he guided Rohit Sharma all along. It was a simply superb team effort by India – great win indeed.

Chak De India – go for the win.
