On Friday, I participated in an Elevator Pitch Business Plan contest at Santa Clara University. Basically, the idea is to pitch a Business Plan within 2 minutes i.e. the time it takes you to go from 1 floor to another in an elevator. You need to pitch your idea in front of a class-room of people and in front of some esteemed judges. After that you will be grilled for 5 minutes by the judges on the viability of the plan and what the future plans are for the business.
I pitched the idea of a Mobility Kiosk – Mobile Utility Kiosks for the Mobile User. Specificially, this will give the user (a). ability to recharge his mobile devices such as cell-phones, PDAs, handhelds etc and (b). ability to print photographs directly from the mobile devices. I feel that there is a huge potential for such a Kiosk, especially with the battery life being such a huge problem in the industry nowadays.
Anyway, there were around 20 teams that pitched in their business ideas. Some of them were cool, some I didn’t understand and some were not very well presented. All in all, it was a great learning experience – hopefully, this will help us in future someday :).
Cheers,
Thyaga
